ACF's battle against Tobacco is a persistent one. Here's how it was fought on No Tobacco Day



336 schools were declared 'Tobacco Free' in Chandrapur last month, as part of a campaign to make Chandrapur a Tobacco Free district.  The announcement was made by ACF and it's partner, Salaam Mumbai Foundation, at an event to celebrate 'World No Tobacco Day' in the presence of the Block Officer of Nagbeed Village and the Education Zilla Parishad Officer.
Building healthy communities to enable people to lead more fruitful and productive lives, No Tobacco Day was celebrated in style across all ACF locations, with medical camps, awareness events and activities promoting the ill - effects of using tobacco and the impact it creates on health.  
In Ambujanagar, Gujarat, awareness sessions on tobacco consumption and its adverse effect on human health was carried out with over 1200 attendees, including trainees, youth, adolescents, truckers, employees and general community members from 15 project villages - including the cement plant workers and SEDI trainees.
Meanwhile in Uttarakhand a medical session took place in collaboration with the Uttarkhand States AIDS Control Society (USACS) Deharadun, on awareness of World No Tobacco Day for Ambuja Cement Limited workers, Skilling Centre students and community members.
Various activities to create awareness were coordinated in Farakka and Sankrail, West Bengal, with an activation booth and mid-media activity in association with ACF's partner, Apollo Tyres Foundation - targeting SEDI students, bidi workers and SHG women. The block development officer, block medical officer of health and station master of police were highly engaged with the team, pledging to avoid using tobacco. 

Dr. Rajesh Abasthi, Block Medical Officer and Dr. Sujata Pandey District Counsellor NCD, attended an awareness program in Bhatapara, Chhattisgarh as resource persons. Additionally ACF's Sakhis performed a short role play and sang a motivational song on Anti-Tobacco to the SEDI students in Raipur.
The Health Centre in Nalagarh organized a World No Tobacco Day programme for truckers at the Truckers Union to create awareness on Drugs De-Addiction and how to 'Make Everyday No Tobacco Day.' Different types of medical disabilities like oral cancer, vision deterioration and Tuberculosis were discussed during the event culminating in a vision camp, Blood Pressure Checkups and HIV Tests. A magic show was also organized as a fun activity.
An awareness campaign was also carried out by ACF Darlaghat, Himachal Pradesh at a village level with the support of Government Schools, Health Departments and SEDI trainees, creating awareness about Tobacco and Lung Health.
