Ambuja Cement Ltd was conferred with the prestigious 'CII National Water Award for Excellence in Water Management' on 5th September 2017.
The Company was recognized for its water management initiatives in the rural communities of Kodinar, Gujarat, with the award being announced during the 3rd Water Innovation Summit held in New Delhi.
Mr. Dalsukh Vaghasiya, ACF's Area Program Manager for Gujarat region, received the award on behalf of the company. The award was presented by Shri U P Singh, Additional Secretary & Director General, National Mission for Clean Ganga, Ministry of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation.
Other dignitaries present during the event were - Mr. Dhruv M Sawhney, Former President CII & Chairman CII-Triveni water Institute, Mr. Ramesh Datla, Chairman CII National Committee on Water and award july members - Mr. N K Ranganath (member Advisory board CII-Triveni water Institute), Dr. Sushil Gupta (Formal Chairman- Central Ground Water Board), Dr. B Sangupta (Formal member secretary - CPCB) and Prof. A. K Keshari (Dept of Civil Engineering, IIT Delhi).
ACF has been working in Kodinar on Water Resource Management and Salinity Ingress Mitigation for 25 years. This work has shown commendable results, contributing to Ambujanagar Plant being certified 12 times Water Positive by DNV-GL in 2016.
Also the Social Return on Investment (SROI) study conducted by Sustainable Square India Pvt Limited in 2016, showed that ACF's work on Water Resource Management in Kodinar has created a social return of INR 13.02 Million, for every 1 Million INR invested.
