Appreciation on Independence Day

As India celebrated its 75th Independence yesterday, its struggle for independence against COVID-19 still continues. The second wave was a harsh blow for the health administration government and its citizens. But with immediate support from countries, various corporates, organizations and individuals, India was able to control the crisis effectively. Ambuja Cements through its CSR arm, Ambuja Cement Foundation (ACF) also played a major role at district level working closely with district collectors and local health administrations in fulfilling urgent support and medical requirement in rural areas. For such efforts various districts appreciated the organization on the occasion of Independence day.

District Collector of Gir Somnath awarded Ambuja Cements, Ambujanagar for its COVID-19 interventions across the Kodinar region in Gujarat. ACF Ropar, Punjab was presented with a certificate by the Vidhan Sabha Speaker, Shri. Rana KP Singh, and Deputy Commissioner & Senior Superintendent of Police, Ropar Ms. Sonali Giri, appreciating Ambuja’s COVID-19 efforts in Ropar district. The Unit Head of Ambuja Cements, Bhatapara, Chattisgarh was felicitated as a COVID-19 warrior by the district for his excellent efforts in playing a major role in curbing the virus in the district. ACF Farakka was also appreciated for its efforts with a certificate from the Chief Medical Officer of Health, Murshidabad. Ambuja Cement's Unit Head, Surat also appreciate the ACF staff for their volunteerism and work on COVID-19.

Excited about these recognitions, Ms. Pearl Tiwari, Director & CEO, Ambuja Cement Foundation said, “Ambuja has always considered it’s host communities as its major stakeholder and overseeing to their needs and controlling the situation during this pandemic was something we pledged to focus on. Since the nation-wide lockdown we have been working closely with government officials and local administrations and it’s great to see our efforts recognized”.

 ACF has been at the forefront during the pandemic providing medical infrastructure, SPOCs and healthcare support to people of rural India. Till date, 455 oxygen concentrators and 130 oxygen cylinders have been provided. 5 oxygen plants were set up and 20 ventilators were donated. ACF is also playing a major role in mobilizing beneficiaries from its core locations to get vaccinated. 11.5 lakh beneficiaries have been vaccinated and arrangements were also made like providing buses and ambulances for transport, setting up pavilions, drinking water stations, and also awareness campaigns through home to home visits, ambulances and e-rickshaws. The organization is continuing its efforts to curb the virus and preparing to avoid another wave by getting maximum people vaccinated from core locations.
