Mr. Narotam Sekhsaria, Chairman & Founder of Narotam Sekhsaria Foundation and his team visited ACF's Chirawa office, Rajasthan in August 2019, to conduct a programme review and explore ways to further enhance interventions and impact in the area.
Chirawa is the native place of the Sekhsaria Family and in 2006, Narotam Sekhsaria Foundation (NSF) requested ACF to expand its operations, providing funding for ACF to conduct community development programs and establish a SEDI there, to help develop the area and generate prosperity among residents.
NSF is a not for profit organization established wholly for philanthropic purposes, supporting activities in the areas of health, education and employment generation. Acting as the implementing organization, ACF helped NSF realise it's dream to provide opportunities in the area by kickstarting community development initiatives and establishment of a new SEDI in the area, which have been been instrumental in improving the quality of life in rural communities in Chirawa, Jhunjunu district, Rajasthan.
The community development program covers activities in agricultural development, animal husbandry, promotion of usage of non-conventional energy sources, health and sanitation programmes, women and youth development, enhancement of education and the establishment of a Skill & Entrepreneurship Development Institute to provide alternative livelihood opportunities for youth.
The Chairman and his team were greeted by SEDI students and toured the Skill & Entrepreneurship Development Institute with members of the Executive Committee of ACF - Ravi Nayse, General Manager (Skills) and Manoj Agarwal, Deputy General Manager (Rajasthan). Additionally, hospitality trainees showcased their skills by creating a mock restaurant at the centre, showcasing their customer service and hospitality skills in food and beverage.
Mr. Sekhsaria showed keen interest on expanding placement opportunities, providing ongoing follow-up with ex-trainees and also requested a SEDI Rajasthan cluster meeting to cross-pollinate learnings. Ideas were also discussed, including the introducing a mobile application to track the placement status of alumni and introduction of a Student Alumni Membership to track graduates and recognize career achievements.
Additionally, key stakeholders discussed ways to enhance the partnership with NSF, including exploring potential synergies and opportunities for increased value creation and impact on the rural communities in the area.
