Yoga for Good Health

On occasion of World Yoga Day celebrated on 21st June 2022, Ambuja Cement Foundation conducted Yoga sessions at various locations involving a variety of community stakeholders - including community members, village leaders, SEDI trainees and their parents, school students and staff, ASHA and Anganwadi workers, SHG members and Sakhis.

In the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, yoga has come to the fore as a key tool for fostering both physical and mental wellbeing. Globally, yoga is practiced to promote a healthy mind and body, and rejuvenate people who have suffered with depression and anxiety via social isolation. Yoga also plays an important role in rehabilitating COVID-19 patients.

In ACF communities, community members were introduced to basic Yoga asanas, meditation and pranayama techniques and the innumerable benefits of practicing yoga. Chanting and warm-up exercises were also performed and before beginning the session, participants were educated on the importance of lifestyle management and how yoga is important in our daily life.

Organized in various locations, some of these sessions included guest speakers like Experts from Art of Living, and yoga practitioners like Shri Shambu Singh Ji and Ms.Beena Bhati, along with Ayurvedic medical Officer from the Ayush department, Darlaghat - Dr. Mina Sharma.

Every June 21st, the world unites to celebrate World Yoga Day which first began in 2015 – spreading the ancient wisdom and tradition of this 5,000-year-old Indian practice that combines physical, mental, and spiritual aspects to achieve harmony in both body and mind. Today yoga is practiced in various forms around the world and continues to grow in popularity.
