Due to the tribal belt, people are hesitant to send their children outside the district for job placements, although they know that there are very few vacancies and jobs available in the local market.
This means that agriculture becomes the only source of income. Agriculture is dependent on erratic rainfall, and farmers are not aware of modern farming techniques. As a result, they are only able to grow 2 crops per year.
To address employment issues in the tribal belt of Amarwara and Chhindwara, ACF established 2 SEDIs in Amarwara District. These centres provide training and employment to rural youth across 7 trades – Sewing Machine Operator, Assistant Electrician, Mason, Security Guards and Beautician. With well-equipped labs and robust curriculums, SEDI also provides practical knowledge via on the job training and workplace training. Placement support to accredited trainees helps them find well-paid, stable jobs that can support them and their families. SEDI also helps trainees to get loan support from banks to open their own enterprises.
